Teaser for the Preview:
And quick synopsis for the skimmers: Upgraded engine last summer, wrecked at auto-x event last fall, put car on frame rack and repaired all damage, pulled new turbos from leaking seals over the winter, got car painted, installed a freaking lot of new goodies, now I'm enjoying her :) Let's start at the beginning for some background I purchased my 1990 Aztec Red bone stock 5speed TT in July of 2005. It wasn't long after that it was already a stage III car and I had the infamous smoking turbos that the dp/tp combo can sometimes bring out. I drove it like this for the better part of 3 years as it would normally only smoke on long idles. I enjoyed the car daily in the summer months and drag raced it on occasion on the weekends. One fall (read cool temp. wise) evening at the drag strip, my boost needle went quite a bit higher than it was supposed to (boost jets, no controller) and the turbo seals came unglued on my old stockers. Time to upgrade, Spring 2008 Z1 GT525's

Here's where it gets fun. WOW, what a difference that all made. Now that it's fast, let's move on to the appearance of the car. I spent a good portion of the summer enjoying the performance and getting the car ready for some minor body work I was planning on over the winter. Overall, the car was already in excellent shape but was beginning to show it's age. A little rust on both rear quarters.
Spoiler rot, door dings etc. Fall 2008 I attend an auto-x event.
At the end of my first run, disaster strikes!

Smacked the curb and went through a fence. I attribute the wreck to 2 things. Incorrect suspension settings - My fault. Cold Tires - Pushed it too hard on my first run, again my fault. I limped the car off the course and took it home. The damage was relatively minor and definitely able to be fixed. Damaged parts: Passenger side: All suspension besides shock and strut. Broken wheel Popped tire Dented fender Bent Intercooler bracket Driver side: outer tie rod Front: Bumper Luckily, as you can see in the pics I was getting ready to do some body work, so I replaced all the suspension, with a big thanks going to David Prince (na300zx(OH)) for supplying my with the majority of my replacement suspension parts, put it on the frame rack for some minor straightening and she was as good as new. Sort of. Remember that bent intercooler bracket I said was damaged? When I took it off to straighten it out, there was oil dripping out of it. The brand new (less than 1k miles) GT 525's were leaking oil. Winter 2008/2009. Time to get busy so the car can be ready for summer 2009! Some of the parts mocked up before engine removal.
Pull the engine, ship turbos back to Z1 for servicing and get the car ready to go to the body shop.

Spring 2009, get turbos back from Z1, get car back from body shop and re-install engine along with a lot of other goodies.
